Property Value

Type Description
LayoutViewColumnCollection

A LayoutViewColumnCollection object that contains the View’s columns.

Remarks

The Columns property stores all columns present in the current View. It allows you to add and delete columns using appropriate methods. You can also access individual columns using indexer notation or the bound field name as parameters.

This Columns property overrides the inherited ColumnView.Columns property, since Layout Views use LayoutViewColumn objects to represent their columns.

For each column in a Layout View, a LayoutViewField object exists. LayoutViewField objects determine the layout of fields/columns in a card. Fields arranged in a specific layout form a template card. You can access this card and customize the layout via the LayoutView.TemplateCard property. In code, the layout can also be customized using methods provided by LayoutViewField objects (for instance, Move).

When a LayoutViewColumn object is created and added to the Columns collection, a corresponding LayoutViewField object is created and added to the template card.

Visible columns can be accessed via the ColumnView.VisibleColumns property.

See Columns to learn more.

Example

The following example shows how to create and customize a Layout View in code. In the example, a template card is created, consisting of six fields arranged as in the image below:

Before arranging layout fields in code, ensure that corresponding columns are visible (see LayoutViewColumn.Visible and GridColumnCollection.AddVisible).
