The DefinedNameValidating event's data class is DefinedNameEditingEventArgs. The following properties provide information specific to this event:

Property Description
Cancel Gets or sets a value indicating whether the event should be canceled. Inherited from CancelEventArgs.
Comment Gets the additional information about the current Defined Name. Inherited from DefinedNameEventArgsBase.
Name Gets the name of the current Defined Name. Inherited from DefinedNameEventArgsBase.
OriginalName Gets the name of the Defined Name before it is edited.
Reference Gets the reference to a cell or cell range, formula or constant associated with the Defined Name. Inherited from DefinedNameEventArgsBase.
Scope Gets the scope (individual worksheet or entire workbook) where a Defined Name is recognized and can be used without qualification. Inherited from DefinedNameEventArgsBase.
ScopeIndex Gets the index identifying the scope of the Defined Name. Inherited from DefinedNameEventArgsBase.

#Remarks

The DefinedNameValidating event allows you to cancel editing by setting the e.Cancel value to true.

Note

The DefinedNameValidating event is fired only if editing is started in the Name Manager dialog.
