Remarks
The ComplexScriptName property specifies the font that displays characters in complex writing systems (for example, Arabic, Hebrew, or Thai). This property corresponds to the a:cs element in DrawingML markup.
Use the following properties to set fonts for different writing systems independently:
| Property | DrawingML element | Characters |
|---|---|---|
| Name | a:latin |
Latin characters |
| EastAsianName | a:ea |
East Asian characters |
ComplexScriptName |
a:cs |
Characters in complex writing systems |
| SymbolName | a:sym |
Symbol characters |
When you set the ComplexScriptName property, only the corresponding typeface name changes. Other font names and related font metadata (Panose, Charset, and PitchFamily) remain unchanged.
Note
Not all ShapeTextFont properties have effect on the visual appearance of chart elements when a document is loaded in the SpreadsheetControl. However, you can set these properties in code, save the document in a supported format and display it in Microsoft Excel.
Example
How to: Specify Fonts for a Chart Title
The following code snippet specifies fonts for a chart title. Latin text uses Arial, while East Asian text uses Malgun Gothic, complex-script text uses Arial, and symbol text uses Segoe UI Symbol:
chart.Title.Font.Name = "Arial";
chart.Title.Font.EastAsianName = "Malgun Gothic";
chart.Title.Font.ComplexScriptName = "Arial";
chart.Title.Font.SymbolName = "Segoe UI Symbol";
