  • 2 minutes to read

Code 93 Extended is based on Code 93 and can encode all 128 ASCII characters.

Barcode - Code 93 Extended

Refer to the following article for more information: Code 93 Extended.

Add the Bar Code to a Report

  1. Drag the XRBarCode item from the DX.20.2: Report Controls tab and drop it onto the report.

  2. Set the XRBarCode control’s Symbology property to Code93Extended (an object of the Code93ExtendedGenerator type).

  3. Specify common barcode properties and properties specific to Code93Extended.

Specific Properties

Use the barcode’s CalcCheckSum property to specify whether to calculate a checksum for this barcode.

Note

The checksum of the Code 93 Extended barcode can contain invalid characters. For this reason, the checksum is not included in the Code 93 Extended barcode’s displayed text.

Runtime Example

The following code creates the Code 93 Extended barcode and specifies its properties.

Note

The complete sample project is available in the following repository: https://github.com/DevExpress-Examples/Reporting_how-to-add-a-bar-code-to-a-report-e167.

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Drawing.Printing;
using System.Windows.Forms;
using DevExpress.XtraPrinting.BarCode;
using DevExpress.XtraReports.UI;
// ...
public XRBarCode CreateCode93ExBarCode(string BarCodeText) {
    // Create a bar code control.
    XRBarCode barCode = new XRBarCode();

    // Set the bar code's type to Code 93 Extended.
    barCode.Symbology = new Code93ExtendedGenerator();

    // Adjust the bar code's main properties.
    barCode.Text = BarCodeText;
    barCode.Width = 400;
    barCode.Height = 100;

    // Adjust the properties specific to the bar code type.
    ((Code93ExtendedGenerator)barCode.Symbology).CalcCheckSum = false;

    return barCode;
}

To add the XRBarCode to a report band, handle the report’s BeforePrint event.

using System.Drawing.Printing;
// ...

private void XtraReport1_BeforePrint(object sender, PrintEventArgs e) {
    this.Detail.Controls.Add(CreateCode93ExBarCode("012345678"));
}
