Remarks

The ASPxVerticalGrid supports unbound rows. These are rows which aren’t bound to any field in the grid’s data source. Data for unbound rows should be supplied using the ASPxVerticalGrid.CustomUnboundRowData event. This event should also be used to save any changes made by an end-user in unbound rows.

To make a column unbound, specify the UnboundType and VerticalGridDataRow.FieldName properties. The VerticalGridDataRow.FieldName property value should be set to a unique value and not refer to any field in ASPxVerticalGrid’s data source. Set the UnboundType property to the UnboundColumnType value that corresponds to the type of data the row will display. For example, if the row is supposed to display integer values, set the UnboundType property to UnboundColumnType.Integer. The data type specified by the UnboundType property determines which editor should be used by default to edit the row’s values.

If the row’s UnboundType property is set to UnboundColumnType.Bound, it’s assumed that this row is bound to a specific field in the data source which is specified by the VerticalGridDataRow.FieldName property.

Refer to Unbound Rows topic for more information.
