Installation

The tutorials in this section describe how to install and update a CodeRush extension for any supported Visual Studio version.

Use one of the following ways to install CodeRush:

  • Visual Studio Marketplace (recommended)

Allows you to get the latest CodeRush version. You can install the trial or registered version of CodeRush.

  • Download Manager

Allows users who have a CodeRush subscription to install any licensed version using the .exe installer or VSIX installer.

After you install CodeRush, Visual Studio searches for the latest version of CodeRush in the Visual Studio Marketplace (by default). When a new version appears in Marketplace, Visual Studio automatically updates the CodeRush extension to the latest release. Refer to the Automatic and Manual Updates topic for more information.
