ColumnBase.AllowEditing Property

Gets or sets whether end-users can edit column values. This is a dependency property.

Namespace: DevExpress.UI.Xaml.Grid

Assembly: DevExpress.UI.Xaml.Grid.v18.2.dll

Declaration

[XtraSerializableProperty]
public DefaultBoolean AllowEditing { get; set; }

Property Value

Type Description
DefaultBoolean

A DefaultBoolean enumeration value that specifies whether an end-user can edit cell values.

Available values:

Name Description
True

Corresponds to a Boolean value of true.

False

Corresponds to a Boolean value of false.

Default

The value is determined by a control’s current setting. The default value is automatically set for a control if an end-user doesn’t specify a value.

Remarks

End-users are allowed to edit data if the grid’s DataControlBase.AllowEditing property is set to true and the DataControlBase.NavigationStyle property is set to GridControlNavigationStyle.Cell. Individual columns provide the AllowEditing property, allowing the default behavior specified by the grid, to be overridden. Setting this property to ‘True’ or ‘False’ overrides the default behavior. This can be useful when it is required to prevent an end-user from changing values of individual columns.

If the AllowEditing property is set to ‘Default’, the ability to edit data is controlled by the grid.
