Accessibility Standards Compliance

Note

Dashboard items are built with DevExtreme widgets. Accessibility features for dashboard items in interactive mode align with DevExtreme widgets. For more information, review the following help topic: DevExtreme jQuery - Accessibility Documentation for Components.

The Document Viewer for the Web component, excluding the dashboard item content, complies with the Section 508 and WCAG 2.x standards criteria. We only encountered the following issues:

3.1.1 Language of Page The component does not expose UI language information to assistive technologies. A developer can specify a language in the page that contains the component.

Keyboard Navigation

Tab and Shift + Tab keys navigate between the following elements in the Dashboard layout:

When you select a dashboard item, press Enter to switch to interactive mode. This mode allows you to navigate within the item.

In interactive mode, you can use the Tab and Shift + Tab keys to navigate through the title elements and the dashboard element’s content. In the Dashboard element, the element’s content is implemented using the DevExtreme widget. The accessibility features of the widget and its accessibility conformance are described in detail in the following help topic: DevExtreme jQuery - Accessibility Documentation for Components.

A user can use the following keys to interact with the Document Viewer component:

Key Action
Tab (Shift+Tab) Navigates between dashboard layout elements. In Interactive mode, navigates within a dashboard item.
Enter Switches to Interactive mode when the focus is on a dashboard item. Expands or collapses a panel when a button is selected in the Tab panel.
Esc Exits Interactive mode.

Screen Reader Support

The Document Viewer for the Web component supports screen readers and complies with WAI-ARIA standards. The exceptions are listed in the Accessibility Standards Compliance topic section.

Contrast Color Theme

You can change theme options (colors, font size, and family) to improve readability, and create and apply a custom theme to meet the accessibility guidelines related to color contrast.

Accessibility Mode

Accessibility mode for the Web Dashboard Viewer component is enabled out-of-the-box.
