BaseView.Invalidate() Method

Invalidates the region occupied by the current View (adds it to the control’s update region that will be repainted during the next paint operation), and causes a paint message to be sent to the grid control.

Namespace: DevExpress.XtraGrid.Views.Base

Assembly: DevExpress.XtraGrid.v24.1.dll

NuGet Packages: DevExpress.Win.Grid, DevExpress.Win.Navigation

Declaration

public virtual void Invalidate()

Remarks

The Invalidate method does not force a synchronous paint. To force a synchronous paint, call the Update method of your grid control after calling Invalidate.

A View is automatically invalidated each time it is required. You may find that your application requires implementation of specific View behaviors such as custom painting particular grid elements. In such an instance, you may need to force invalidation manually. Generally, you will have to perform manual invalidation of particular View elements (not the entire view). Thus, BaseView class descendants provide methods that allow you to perform validation of their specific visual elements. Refer to the Manually Invalidating Controls help topic for details on when you may need to invoke invalidation manually and how this can be accomplished.

Note

Detail pattern Views do not contain data and they are never displayed within XtraGrid. So, the Invalidate member must not be invoked for these Views. The Invalidate member can only be used with Views that display real data within the Grid Control. Use the following methods to access these Views with which an end user interacts at runtime.

The following code snippet (auto-collected from DevExpress Examples) contains a reference to the Invalidate() method.
