Remarks
The WinExplorer View is a GridControl View inspired by Windows Explorer. To start working with this View, you need to specify the column set and choose the view style.
View Styles
The WinExplorer View features seven unique display modes or styles for its records. These styles specify what data each record shows and how it is presented on-screen. To select the currently active view style, utilize the WinExplorerViewOptionsView.Style property.
WinExplorerView - Tiles Style
Records display medium images with text captions, descriptions, and optional check boxes painted at the image’s top-left corner). Check boxes are visible only when checked or hovered.
WinExplorerView - Small Style
Records display small images with text captions to the right and optional check boxes to the left. Records are arranged horizontally. Groups are placed one under another.
WinExplorerView - Medium Style
Records display medium images with text captions below and optional check boxes to the left.
WinExplorerView - Large Style
Records display large images with text captions below and optional check boxes to the left.
WinExplorerView - ExtraLarge Style
Records display extra-large images with text captions below and optional check boxes to the left.
WinExplorerView - Content Style
Records display medium images, bold text captions, and descriptions in a row. Records are arranged one under another and separated by horizontal lines. You can optionally display a check box to the left of the image.
WinExplorerView - List Style
Records display small images with text captions to the right and optional check boxes to the left. Records are arranged vertically while groups are placed horizontally, side-by-side. Groups display no collapse buttons.
Additional settings for each style are stored within corresponding sub-groups of the WinExplorerView.OptionsViewStyles property section. To modify global settings common to all view styles, access the WinExplorerView.OptionsView property instead.
Column Set
Unlike other Data Grid Views, the WinExplorer View shows data from only four GridColumns.
- Item title - assign a grid column with record titles to the WinExplorerViewColumns.TextColumn property.
- Item description - assign a grid column with record description strings to the WinExplorerViewColumns.DescriptionColumn property.
- Item image - depending on the image size, assign this column to the WinExplorerViewColumns.SmallImageColumn, WinExplorerViewColumns.MediumImageColumn, WinExplorerViewColumns.LargeImageColumn or WinExplorerViewColumns.ExtraLargeImageColumn property.
- Check boxes - assign a grid column with boolean values to the WinExplorerViewColumns.CheckBoxColumn property.
Two additional ColumnSet properties allow you to group data and display specific records as disabled.
- Assign a grid column to the WinExplorerViewColumns.GroupColumn property to group all records by this column’s values.
- The WinExplorerViewColumns.EnabledColumn property accepts a grid column with boolean values. Records with false values will be painted as disabled.
