GridView.GetParentRowHandle(Int32) Method

Determines a particular row’s parent group row.

Namespace: DevExpress.XtraGrid.Views.Grid

Assembly: DevExpress.XtraGrid.v19.1.dll

Declaration

public int GetParentRowHandle(
    int rowHandle
)

Parameters

Name Type Description
rowHandle Int32

The handle of the row whose parent row’s handle is to be obtained.

Returns

Type Description
Int32

The handle of the parent group row for the specified child row.

Remarks

When grouping is applied to a view, group and data rows form a hierarchy. Data rows are at the bottom hierarchy level. Using the GetParentRowHandle method for data rows will return handles of group rows corresponding to the last column within the ColumnView.GroupedColumns collection. The method can be used to go further to the top of the hierarchy. Using the GetParentRowHandle for root group rows returns the value of the GridControl.InvalidRowHandle property. Root group rows correspond to the first column within the ColumnView.GroupedColumns collection.

Note

In server mode, the GetParentRowHandle returns the GridControl.InvalidRowHandle value if data is grouped by two or more columns.

Please refer to the Working with Groups in Code topic for additional information.

Note

Detail pattern Views do not contain data and they are never displayed within XtraGrid. So, the GetParentRowHandle member must not be invoked for these Views. The GetParentRowHandle member can only be used with real Views that are displayed within the Grid Control. The real Views with which an end-user interacts at runtime can be accessed using the following methods.
