GridView.GetGroupSummaryText(Int32) Method

Gets the summary text displayed within a particular group row.

An integer value representing the handle of the group row whose summary text is to be obtained.

Returns

Type Description
String

A string value representing the summary text displayed within the specified group row. An empty string if no summary text is displayed within the row or if the specified row is a data row.

Remarks

The GetGroupSummaryText method may be useful when custom painting group rows, for instance. To do so, handle the GridView.CustomDrawGroupRow event.

To obtain summary values displayed within group footer cells, use the GridView.GetGroupSummaryValues and GridView.GetRowFooterCellText methods.

Note

Detail pattern Views do not contain data and they are never displayed within XtraGrid. So, the GetGroupSummaryText member must not be invoked for these Views. The GetGroupSummaryText member can only be used with real Views that are displayed within the Grid Control. The real Views with which an end-user interacts at runtime can be accessed using the following methods.

Example

Assume that a Grid View’s “Order Sum” column contains numbers. When grouping is applied to this column, the rows which have values between 0 and 99 in this column should be combined into a single group, the rows whose values fall between 100 and 199 should be combined into another group, etc. To provide custom grouping logic the column’s GridColumn.SortMode property should be set to ColumnSortMode.Custom and the GridView.CustomColumnGroup event should be handled to implement the algorithm. In the following example the event’s Result parameter is set to 0 if the two rows being compared should be placed within the same group.

The ColumnView.CustomColumnDisplayText event is handled to replace the default text displayed within group rows.
