GridView.GetChildRowCount(Int32) Method

Returns the number of immediate children for a particular group row.

Parameters

rowHandle	Int32	An integer value identifying the group row by its handle.

Returns

Type	Description
Int32	An integer value representing the number of the specified group row’s immediate children. 0 if the specified row is a data row.

Remarks

When rows are grouped by multiple columns, group and data rows form a hierarchy. Root group rows correspond to the first column within the ColumnView.GroupedColumns collection. If passing handles of such rows to the GetChildRowCount method, the return value will indicate the number of second level group rows that are owned by the specified root row. Note that data rows are children of group rows that correspond to the last column within the ColumnView.GroupedColumns collection. Passing handles of such group rows will result in obtaining the number of data rows that belong to the specified group.

The GetChildRowCount method can be used in combination with the GridView.GetChildRowHandle method to traverse through the group rows hierarchy.

Note

The GetChildRowCount method is not supported in Server Mode.

Note

Detail pattern Views do not contain data and they are never displayed within XtraGrid. So, the GetChildRowCount member must not be invoked for these Views. The GetChildRowCount member can only be used with real Views that are displayed within the Grid Control. The real Views with which an end-user interacts at runtime can be accessed using the following methods.

• GridControl.MainView - returns the top most View in a grid;
• GridControl.FocusedView - returns the focused View;
• GridControl.DefaultView - returns the currently maximized View;
• the sender parameter of View specific events;
• GridView.GetDetailView - returns a detail clone View for a specific master row.
