Working with the Clipboard
Text editors can send content to the clipboard in several formats. The table below lists formats in which the Rich Text Editor and Microsoft Word send content to the clipboard.

The Rich Text Editor inserts content from the clipboard according to the following format priority:
- RTF
- Image
- Internal RichEdit Format
- HTML
- Plain Text
When the Rich Text Editor finds content in an appropriate format in the clipboard, the editor inserts it and does not check the other formats. This behavior can cause a pasting issue if the clipboard contains incorrect content.
Note
Internet Explorer does not allow you to insert an RTF document from clipboard because it cannot retrieve RTF documents from the clipboard.
